Costco's 3-Foot LED Christmas Candles Bring Holiday Magic

Now that fall is officially here, it won’t be long before the Christmas season is upon us. And although I often find it hard to wrap my mind around holiday shopping this early in the fall, this is often when some of the best finds start showing up. That’s especially true at warehouse clubs. If you see something you love now, you may want to grab it because there’s no guarantee it’ll stick around for long.

I’ve been trying to find a new way to decorate our front porch this year because I live in a neighborhood that takes Christmas decorating very seriously. Every year, the neighborhood hosts a competition for the best-decorated house, and I have to tell you, some of them would put Clark Griswold to shame.

I’m not looking to win the contest or put in that much work, to be honest. But I do like adding a few new touches each year. It keeps decorating affordable and, more importantly, enjoyable.

I’ve always loved the soft glow of candles, and I recently found two options at Costco that bring that cozy look outdoors with plenty of holiday cheer.

Costco’s 3-Foot Christmas Candle Set Brings a Warm Glow Indoors or Outdoors

The larger option that caught my eye is the Mr. Christmas 36-Inch Red and White LED Blow Mold Candles, which Costco currently has online for $74.99 for a set of two. At 3 feet tall, they’re big enough to make an impact without requiring the kind of elaborate outdoor display my neighbors somehow pull off every year.

I especially love the nostalgic look. The red-and-white striped candles have faux holly around the base and a warm white LED flame that flickers, giving them some of the cozy glow of a real candle without an actual flame. They’re designed for indoor and outdoor use, so I could place the pair on either side of my walkway, or use them near the front porch. I could even bring them inside to flank a fireplace or Christmas tree.

According to Costco’s product specifications, each candle measures approximately 7.4 inches wide by 7.4 inches deep by 36 inches tall and weighs just under 2 pounds. Each one requires three D batteries, which aren’t included, and there’s a built-in timer that keeps the lights on for six hours and off for 18. That last feature is a big plus for me because there’s one less set of Christmas lights to remember to turn on and off every day.

Costco Also Has a Smaller 24-Inch Version for $52.99

If 3-foot candles feel a little too large for your space, Costco also has a smaller Mr. Christmas 24-Inch Red and White LED Blow Mold Glitter Candle set for $52.99. You still get two candles with the same nostalgic red-and-white striped design, just in a more compact size.

Like the larger pair, these have a warm white flickering LED flame, faux holly around the base, and the same six-hours-on, 18-hours-off timer. They’re also suitable for indoor or outdoor use and require three D batteries per candle.

The biggest difference, of course, is the size. Each smaller candle measures approximately 5.5 inches wide by 5.5 inches deep by 24 inches tall and weighs about 1 pound. I think these would be especially pretty flanking a front door, where the 36-inch pair might feel a little overwhelming depending on the size of your porch.

For me, the larger pair would probably win. My neighborhood gives me plenty of motivation to step up my Christmas decorating game, and I like that these would add a lot of impact without adding a lot of work. Clark Griswold, I am not, but two flickering 3-foot candles? That I can handle.
